lasses! All in all, today has gone fabulously. First was intermediate ballet, where apparently we are given the choice of warming up normally or on pointe. I would so enjoy warming up on pointe, but that would probably require me to get some more suitable pointe shoes... preferabley from a third party. *cough cough* Anyone interested in applying for said position please contact me, you may remain annonymous if you wish. *cough MOM cough*

Ah yes.
The class is very small, only about seven people, but that means we'll get lots of individual attention. Missy (our teacher) is not LDS, but she is a real sweetheart. She has recently moved her studio right next to campus, and she may be opening up teaching positions! She and I talked about the possibility of me teaching a tap class for 7-9 year olds. We also talked about me teaching a special 6-week Musical Theatre class! Which is basically my dream. And would possibly be quite awesome.
I have a big break between my two Thursday classes, meaning I had a chance to take my time at lunch. A bunch of us sat around and talked over our plans for this year's Dance Team while the poor ONE non-dancer at the table just sort of... sat there, contemplating his cheeseburger.
Stagecraft was a HUGE success! I may be speaking too soon, but I fully expect to get an A+. I already know everything he taught us today, and I've gotten a head start on my design project. We were there for less than 45 minutes (which made everyone happy, but we were assured that we weren't to get used to it.) I have stagecraft Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The Wed. class is a lecture, and the others are lab time. We'll be building (and designing) the set for Stone Tables, we're required to attend and work every show, and most of my classmates have already started to look to me as a sort of student teacher.
*sigh* I should have been a techie. The theatre is nothing without them. Techies make the stage go round. (Yes, Lake, that one was for you:)
And speaking of theatre...
*drumroll*
IT'S OUR FINAL DRESS REHEARSAL!!!
We're still not sure where we're rehearsing tonight. Lime Kiln (the outdoor theatre we're SUPPOSED to be in) may or may not be dry. It's been raining almost nonstop for the past three days, and though we're slowly edging our way toward the happy dry-ness of sunlight, wood generally takes forever to dry out. The last time we practiced there when it was wet... let's just say after the first number we sat for the rest of the show. It was safer. Much safer.
Some interesting points about Lime Kiln:
Pros:
- Small, intimate performing space. Our expressions are BIG and BRIGHT!
- It's unique, and everyone gains a unique experience.
- There's natural terrain to work with. Mulitple levels of granite to play around with.
Cons:
- Small, intimate performing space. Our expressions CAN BE SEEN when we mess up!
- It's... unique. Everyone gains the unique experience of driving 20 minutes away and realizing they left their pants at home.
- There's natural terrain to work with. Beautiful, God-given terrain, complete with sound-sucking granite and trees, crickets and cicadas competing for every minute of hard-earned dialogue while we pant and sweat and sing our hearts into a sound vacuum as our piano player pounds out loud enough for us to hear, therefore drowning what little sound reaches the audience's ears at all!
It's a great show. Everyone should come see it.

That's it for this one. It's two hours until call, meaning I'm right on schedule to start getting ready.
Until next time,
Sir Kaitlin
